Flashback: Our Humble Beginnings

Here’s a flashback to the humble beginnings of our aquaponics ministry here at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.  This was back in June of ’09 when our first crop began to take off.  Since then, we’ve done away with the top beds in exchange for more sunlight exposure on the bottom beds.  Our tilapia have been fruitful and multiplied -- we currently have roughly 5,000 fish swimming happily in our tanks!  We’ve added a sump, a composting station, and the beginnings of a production nursery/hatchery system.  I’ll post more current photos in the near future of our current winter crop of broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, various chards, and other cruciferous greens.  Thanks for watching!  Also, a special thanks to Jeremy Foster for producing this video.

I heard about your project/ministry from a client. I want to say what a wonderful way to help those people who are under-privileged, hungry, and starving. God Bless you and your ministry. I am amazed how aquaponics work. Keep up the good work. Do you need any volunteer like planting etc.? I would like to help.
