Slideshow – The Vision of Applied Aquaponics

Slideshow - The Vision of Applied Aquaponics

Here’s a short slideshow that I created for a Thanksgiving presentation that I made at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 2010. This slideshow chronicles the early days of our aquaponics experiments as well as explains our vision for outreach to the world through agricultural missions work. Thank you so much for your time. God Bless [...]

Video Update: Oct. 3rd, 2010

Here’s a video update for the Calvary Chapel Aquaponics facility on Oct. 3rd, 2010. The fish are thriving, and continue to multiply in great numbers. We’re consistently moving the fish up our crude grading system as they grow, allowing space in our sumps for the new hatchlings to get a well protected start. Once the [...]

A quick look at our bell siphons

A quick look at our bell siphons

Here a quick little video to explain our twist on the famous bell-siphon irrigation technique.   I’ll probably make a more detailed video soon without all the moving around and glare from the sun. The pipes are all 1.5in ABS.  Our beds are 16ft long by 4ft wide, and about 10in deep. Take care, Thanks for [...]

Video Update: Sept. 27th, 2010

Here’s the latest from the Calvary Chapel aquaponics project.  We take a quick lap around the farm to see the improvements we’ve made on the lids, the progress of the hatchlings, and also a quick lesson on pinching out tomatoes.

Turning the Growbeds

Turning the Growbeds

Here’s the first in a series of retrospective videos from the previous season, and the transitional phase between then and now. Hopefully soon I will get caught up and back in sync with “real time”. Enjoy. —- Here’s a short clip of Rebecca McIntosh and I turning the grow beds between seasons. We are getting [...]

Video Update: Aug 11th, 2010

My apologies for the extended delay of the video updates.  I’ve been so very busy with the hands-on work at the farm, I haven’t really had a chance to settle in and get on these computer updates.  Thank you so much for your patience. I am putting together a comprehensive set of updates that will [...]

Video Update: Feb 1st, 2010 - Part 2 of 2

Here’s a quick video update on the status of our fish on Feb 1st, 2010. Everybody is happily swimming, eating, growing, and producing fertilizer for plants. I’m pretty sure we’ll be having fish tacos in the next month. Yum!

Video Update: Feb 1st, 2010 - Part 1 of 2

Here’s a quick video update of the status of the CCCM Aquaponics Project on Feb 1st, 2010. We are currently between seasons, and I have recently culled out the last of the romaine lettuce, various tomato varieties, peppers, eggplant, and some other assorted veggies in order to get a jump on our summer crop.

Flashback: Our Humble Beginnings

Flashback: Our Humble Beginnings

Here’s a flashback to the humble beginnings of our aquaponics ministry here at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.  This was back in June of ’09 when our first crop began to take off.  Since then, we’ve done away with the top beds in exchange for more sunlight exposure on the bottom beds.  Our tilapia have been [...]
